The foundation of my PT training:
- Anatomy of bones, joints, muscles, skin, fascia, blood and nerve pathways and how muscles, bones and joints receive nutrition and innervation.
- Physiology of how different tissues heal at different rates, or not at all. Physiology of inflammatory processes, chemical processes, and an appreciation of endocrinology.
- Kinesiology of human movement including stages of human movement, biomechanics of joints, whole system movement, and the mechanics of pathological movement.
- Grounded in good research practices, past and contemporary.
- Years of experience in problem solving.
Background: I have been a Certified Hand Therapist working with complex upper extremity trauma, onsite industrial and office ergonomics, and chronic pain issues of adults. I currently blend my physical therapy experience with a Feldenkrais approach, which is a sophisticated tool for engaging the neuro-motor system in unlearning old habitual ways of movement and learning more efficient/bio-mechanically sound ways of movement.
